Happy Halloween

The short story I just finished is strangly appropriate for today, so I thought I’d post the beginning just for fun.

Afterwards by Stephanie Weippert

A monsoon rain followed a long August dry spell. Rain slicked road with sharp curve he didn’t respect. Helpless curses as the car slammed through the guardrail and the ground expanded in his windshield.

His eyes jerked open but he was no longer in his car. Did he make it? He didn’t feel dead, but it was unlikely he survived riding in a car off that high a cliff. He tried to remember what happened but got a blank. If he died, he had no memory of it; the un-spooling reel of images faltered about half way to the bottom.

But where was he now?

A day of rest.

I have no plans to write today or tomorrow. I will be working on outline, since Sunday is November 1st. I’m not involved in NaNoWriMo, I don’t think I have a prayer in getting over 1000 words per day, but I want to start my next story with a goal of 30,000 by the end of November. Delusional? Me? Of course! But how else will I stretch over 300 words per day? Missing 1000 will mean I’ll "fail" at 750.

Do I play mental games I with myself? Yes, they are quite fun too. 😀

Anyway, the next story is a YA Familiar Trouble story.  Heathcliff, a marmalade tom, will be called by 14 year old Matt, who finds out he has magical talent just like his grandmother. Oh boy will his parents be surprised.

Edited to correct writer error. (blush)

What I’m up to.

Hi guys!

I haven’t been posting much here or on twitter for the last few days so just in case you’re wondering, I am still at it. I have a short story I’m working on called "Afterwords." It’s the story of a man’s adventure after he dies. I’m now around 4,500 words. If you’d like to read it, just e-mail me here in LJ and I will love you. 😀

I have been sick quite a lot this month, and sleeping most of the day has cut into my life. This vile stuff is just hanging on. It won’t go away. I’m still coughing and my nose is still stuffy. And let’s not forget tired. Always tired right now.

The latest book I’m reading is "Letters to a Young Novelist" by Mario Vargas Llosa. I like it. There’s tons of writing advice in there.

‘s advice still holds: I’ve found great books working through the 808 section of my local library. I owe her for that, and when I get to finally meet her, I’ll have to get her the drink of her choice. lol

My hunnybun, , has gotten some hours out of his former employer as they move everything out of the building the store occupied. He got 40 hours last week, but today’s expected to be the last day. Then we have to do the full re-adjust of finances and he’ll have to look full time for a job. Any prayers, positive thoughts, etc. anyone can send our way are appreciated.

Sorry to end on a down note, not everything’s a bummer, just the interesting stuff. LOL
