Well, the weekend wasn’t a total bust.

(contented purr from muse)

I got more writing done than during the week anyway. When you’re a turtle writer, some is much, much better than none. 🙂

32130 / 60000 words. 54% done!

I’ve posted below a snippet from what I wrote this weekend. Standard disclaimers apply*

Dramatis Personae
Mark is my 13 yr-old protag learning magic.
Arletha is the librarian who is teaching my protag magic theory.

“Now, let’s get comfortable.” Arletha walked over the overstuffed chairs where they usually sat. Mark followed. “Get comfortable. I’ll be back with the tea and cookies. I have regular Oreo’s this time.” She winked. “Hope you won’t be too disappointed.”

Mark smirked. He’d mentioned last time they were one of his favorites. He sat in one of the chairs and waited. A sunbeam from the skylight turned dust motes into fireflies, and he watched them swirl into patterns as the grandfather clock ticked in the corner of the quiet library. It was peaceful. In that way, this library was tons better than the one at home. One thing Mark knew, this small-town library turned out nothing like he thought it would be.
